1st Place Win – 2019 Contractor of the Year [2019 CoTY Awards]
The old kitchen layout simply did not work for this professional couple, their young children, and frequent guests. Working within the confines of the existing kitchen space, we were able to make the kitchen feel larger and function more efficiently by creating openings into two adjacent rooms, and by removing structural elements that were impeding a design objective for better traffic flow and and a larger center island. The desire for clutter-free countertops was accomplished by using (2) tall appliances garages to hide small appliances, no upper wall cabinets, and incorporating a full-height pantry into the kitchen design.
Design Achievements: Large island with bar stool seating for informal meals | Low-hanging soffits were removed to clean up ceiling-clutter and allow for better lighting | Full-height pantry with pull-out shelving | (2) Full-height appliance garages with electrical accommodations for coffee-maker, toaster, and other small appliances | Opening to family room allows for TV viewing on game days | Pass-thru opening to dining room allows for connection to activity and conversation in the kitchen | Professional-grade appliances and new ventilation for better cooking experiences | Base cabinets are all soft-close drawers for accessing stored dishware and stored material with ease.
